Portrait of a Graduate: A first step in building a 21st century education system

Battelle for Kids invites you to attend this exciting pre-conference to learn more about how education leaders across the nation can establish significant engagement and support for a Portrait of a Graduate, a vision for 21st century learning that is locally developed, but globally positioned.

School systems are strengthened when communities are engaged in shaping the future direction of their schools through the design of a Portrait of a Graduate. The Portrait of a Graduate becomes the “North Star” for transforming school systems to provide educational experiences that intentionally cultivate the competencies, including 21st century skills, mindsets, and literacies essential for students to be effective lifelong learners and contributors.

Explore the Necessity of Redefining Success for our Schools and our Graduates
Learn about the research and explore resources related to changes in society and the competitive, global economy that create the necessity to reimagine success for our schools and our graduates.

Create a Portrait of a Graduate: Explore the Design Process
Learn about the overall design process and getting started on your school system’s transformation. While every community’s design process will be aligned with its unique needs, understanding the four-phase process will provide a solid foundation for enduring impact for your students.

You Have a Portrait of a Graduate, Now What?
​Learn how to intentionally align all aspects of your organization to realize the Portrait of a Graduate for every student. Explore the aspects of a Portrait of a 21st Century Education System including implications for district leadership and learning design.
